Adventures in Moving.

Turkey Butt is an amazing boyfriend! He's been such a big help with all the packing, lugging and cleaning involved with the upcoming 30th move. My only complaint? In the time that we've been together, he still hasn't noticed that I am always right. Here's an example:

Yesterday while we were moving the last load of stuff out of the old apartment, Turkey Butt decided to bring the fish tank along, on his lap. Being the good girlfriend that I am, I suggested that he may want to dump out some of the water so he doesn't get wet. Being the man that he is, he decided I was wrong and he could definitely get the tank from my place to his without spilling a single drop of water.
A Series of Unfortunate Events
- The tank started spilling water all over Turkey Butt before we even made it out of the driveway (you're damn straight I said, I told you so)
- The dog, the very large Bernese Mountain Dog to be specific, got scared by the boxes surrounding her in the backseatand tried to jump into Turkey Butt's lap knocking around the fish tank that was presiding there
- Finding no room in Turkey Butt's lap, the dog steps on my cactus plant breaking it in half and jumps, crying, into my lap... AS I'M DRIVING DOWN MAIN STREET!!!
- End Result: Turkey Butt jeopradizes his life, to try to prove a point, but still loses. The dog makes a better door than a window. And me? I drove as carefully as I could with an 80lb puppy on my lap and without being able to breathe due to hyperventilating while laughing at Turkey Butt and the half a tank of water on his lap!!!!

Needless to say, good times were had by all. Oh, and maybe now Turkey Butt will accept the fact that I AM ALWAYS RIGHT! This is my life :)

Becoming a Grown-Up.

Who knew that the girl who still hangs upside down from tree branches, rolls down hills and does cartwheels anywhere and everywhere would finally grow up? Okay, would finally temporarily act like a grown up - we all know I'll never actually grow up! Today I met with a financial advisor for the first time. I've been pre-approved for a car loan, am in the process of purchasing a vehicle and I've started making contributions to an RRSP! Go me!

This is my life.

Routines.

Turkey Butt and I have been together for a few weeks now and we're slowly starting to get into a routine. Eating out, sleeping in, cuddling up and watching movies, doing laundry (me) and washing dishes (him). It's enjoyable! I never thought I would be the kind of girl who enjoys knowing what to expect from life, but there's something comforting about knowing who I'll be wrapping my arms around in 50 years! Sure I have a habit of getting bored easily, but planning for our future together has a way of keeping things interesting! This is my life :)

Move # 30. Yikes.

To say I've moved alot in my life is a bit of an understatement. In a couple weeks I will be moving for the 30th time in the 25 years of my life. And believe me, this will not be the last time. As Turkey Butt likes to joke, I've lived in every other house in my Nova Scotian hometown. I've lived in at least 4 other towns in Nova Scotia, 1 city in New Brunswick and 1 in British Columbia. I like to think of myself as a modern day gypsy. After so long in one place I get bored. This is why year lease's on apartments are the best thing! My new place is beautiful though, so it will be hard to move on from it. Especially since I'll be living with my bestest Ay and eventually Turkey Butt will join us. And the rent will be SO cheap! By this time next year I'll be able to afford New Zealand and a house with a porch swing and anything else that Turkey Butt and I may be planning :)

(Two) Book Review(s).

I've been slacking on my reviews. First up was Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. This travel/biographical book was split into 3 sections. The section on finding passion in Italy through food was AMAZING! Luckily Turkey Butt is a chef and makes AMAZING pasta because I craved it the entire time I was reading the book. The section on pursuing spiritual enlightenment in India was honestly very boring to me. I had a difficult time making it through it. But I was pleasantly surprised by her pursuit of a compromise between passion and spiritual enlightenment while she was writing about her time in Indonesia. Definitely gave me a positive outlook on the book as a whole.

This was the second book I've read by Elizabeth Gilbert and I'm very impressed. As we speak I'm working on a third book of her's, Committed.

Jon Krakauer ALWAYS impresses me and Where Men Win Glory: The Odyssey of Pat Tillman was no different. Somehow Krakauer has this amazing sense of people and always picks truly amazing individuals to write about. Before reading this book, I had heard the tale of Pat Tillman, how he left his NFL career to fight for his country and lost his life in the process. That was literally all I knew. I didn't realize he died from friendly fire. I didn't realize the military committed a huge cover up about the details of his death because Pat had become the "poster boy" for the War on Terror. I didn't realize what an amazing individual Pat Tillman was. I was literally amazed to learn about his intelligence (graduated in 3.5 years, with honours from Arizona State University) and his loyalty (was offered a 5yr $9.6 million contract by the St. Louis Rams, but declined in order to stay with the Cardinals because they took a chance on him in the draft - for just over $500, 000 a year, the league minimum). What an amazing person!

Coming soon: more Elizabeth Gilbert, The Time Traveller's Wife, a novel from the Twilight series, another sports bio, and Kitchen Confidential! This is my life...

A Little Something From Ay.

My bestest Ay works with me at one of my jobs. This is fantastic since we can sympathize with each other about work stresses that most people couldn't even imagine. The following is a link to her latest blog entry. It'll give you an idea about what our work day's can be like.

The Desire To Save.

I'm really horrible when it comes to saving money. Always have been. As a child, my allowance was spent within hours of receiving it. Now as an adult, there are important things that I want to save up for. My dilemma is: How do I change my free-spending ways? This is Plan A:

Turkey Butt's best friend, Cee and his girlfriend are moving to New Zealand for a year. Cee's girlfriend and I are trying to convince Turkey Butt that we should go visit for a few weeks next summer.

This is what Turkey Butt would rather save our money for. I'm alright with this too!

I'm hoping that if I can SEE what I'm saving my money for, I'll be less likely to molest the undersides of my piggy bank for silly things like coffee money!

How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You.

I've been busy all week and therefore neglecting my blogging needs. Turkey Butt's fun-filled Birthday Week (yes, week) is winding down but we've accomplished SO much!

Monday- Gave him a tour of my hometown and took him to meet my grandparents. Went out for birthday supper with my best friend Ay and her man and Turkey Butt's best friend Cee and his girlfriend. It was fantastic :) Everyone got along SO well. It was great for Turkey Butt and I to just sit back and watch everyone laughing and chatting with each other!

Tuesday- THE birth day. Turkey Butt came to visit me at work and met some of my silly residents. One of which is now convinced that we're getting married next summer and going to have a baby, haha. At the carrot cake that my sister Aych and I made for him.

Wednesday- Went to the city to so I could meet his parents. Met his Mom at her work. Spent the afternoon and the Discovery Centre. Went to his family cottage for the night with his Dad.

Thursday (today)- Back home from the cottage. Took the dog for a walk around town. Laid out in the sun til it was time for work. Since he's been at work, I've been printing off photos from the past few days to put into albums/scrapbooks.

Tomorrow- We plan to go hiking before we both head to work.

Oye, busy busy busy. But this is my life!

Easter. Birth Day of the Dead.

Turkey Butt and I celebrated Easter early. Like, 3 weeks early. Personally, I despise Easter. It's easily my least favorite holiday. Turkey Butt on the other hand, loves it! He mentionned ages ago how this holiday makes him sad now that he's a grown up because he doesn't get the basket of goodies from the Easter Bunny anymore. So being the fantastic girlfriend that I am (okay, future girlfriend at that point), the next time I went shopping, I created a droolworthy Easter basket just for him!

We celebrated early because a) I can't keep anything from Turkey Butt and b) he knows me so well that he ALWAYS catches on to my surprises, therefore ruining them. I didn't give him the chance to ruin this one!

Celebrating holidays with Turkey Butt is always fun. Like myself, he's thrilled with the gesture and loves anything thoughtful that comes his way. Tuesday we get to celebrate his 26th birthday. Due to work schedules, I'm dragging it out over a few days. Supper with his best friend and best friend's girlfriend. Homemade carrot cake with cream cheese icing. Camping with his two favorite girls (me and the dog)!

Here's the birthday card I've been working on for him:

Inside is a quote from 'Return of the Living Dead': But I don't care darling because I love you, and you've got to let me eat your brains! Turkey Butt's a big geek but I love that about him!

This is my life!

Sing, Sing, Sing.

so baby hold on tight,
don't let go

...

i'll watch the night turn light-blue
but it's not the same without you

...

cause the spaces between my fingers
are right where yours fit perfectly

...

i'm weak,
in the knees,
for you

...

Live, love, laugh has taken on a whole new meaning for me. This is my life...
